Service Station §2859
located at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Walnut Street, in Stockton,
. field
California. The soil sampling program included five borings
screening with a PID, and ten confirmatory samples chemically analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons and volatile aromatics by a certified
laboratory.
Petroleum hydrocarbons including benzene were detected at moderate levels s
in soil samples collected at approximately Zo feet deep in two borings
located to the northwest and southeast o£ the pump islands. Lower levels
of hydrocarbons were detected in other borings and at other depths. The Y
vertical extent of hydrocarbon migration may extend into ground water.
The horizontal extent of contamination was not fully determined from this
limited, preliminary investigation.
The installation of ground water monitoring
wells is recommended to
l sampling is also recommended to
evaluate water quality. Additional soi
more fully evaluate the horizontal extent of sail contamination. Soil
. remediation will probably be required at this site. A feasibility study
of remedial Options should be performed.
- II
85-85-219
1
