19
Concentrations of benzene in water samples were 11,000 ug/L at the 50 foot depth, 21,000
ug/L at the 60 foot depth, and 1,200 ug/L at the 70 foot depth At two additional successive
depths, 80 and 90 R bgs, samples were attempted but not yield enough water to collect a
' sample
Results for water sampling conducted with the Simulprobe6 and analyzed m the on-
site mobile laboratory are summarized in Table 5-1 and illustrated on Figure 5-2 Detailed
mobile laboratory results, fixed-lab MTBE confirmation results, QA/QC records, and Chain of
Custody records for the field water sampling results are included in Appendix G
5.5 PERMEABILITY TESTING
Samples were collected to test the vertical permeability of the soils beneath the 70 foot
depth level, from the depths(at 80 and 90 feet bgs) at which insufficient water was collected to
yield samples for laboratory analysis Upon arrival at the laboratory, it was determined that the
samples had been disturbed during transport, had large gaps present near the sidewalls of the
' sample rings, and were inappropriate for conducting permeability testing Based on the
disturbed condition of the samples, permeability testing on the samples was not conducted A
letter from the hydrologic testing laboratory manager regarding the condition of the samples is
included in Appendix H
5.6 FIELD QA/QC RESULTS
Equipment blank water samples s (sample numbers EB 1-50 and EB2-90) were
' nondetect for TPHg,MTBE,BTEX compounds
1 The duplicate water sample taken (sample number DTP-1) was a blind duplicate of
sample number NPI-60 For all compounds, the concentration reported for the sample was
greater than the concentration reported for the duplicate Concentrations of the compounds
detected at the laboratory to the duplicate samples are shown in the table below(in ug/L) The
1
