17 December 1998
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' J
' • None of the fuel oxygenating compounds were detected in the analyzed water samples.
However, based on historical detection,DIPE and/or TBA may be present at MW-3,MW-6,
VW-I and AW-2B but may have been masked due to raised detection limits
• From December 1996 to October 1998, decreasing concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons have been reported from MW-1 (Appendix F)
' • For the second consecutive quarter, laboratory analysis reported the detection of
tetrachloroethene(PCE) from well MW-11 at a concentration of 2 6 ppb PCE is a chemical
compound commonly utilized within the dry cleaning industry AGE does not believe that
' the detection of PCE from well MW-11 is related to the current investigation
• The dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume appears to be sufficiently contained within the
' current array of ground water monitoring wells, however the increased hydrocarbon
concentrations in some northern wells and decreased concentrations in some southern wells
may indicate migration of the plume northward
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected during October 1998, AGE recommends
' e Continued quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling should be performed at the site
to monitor dissolved TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX,MTBE and fuel oxygenating compounds at the
' site The next quarterly monitoring event should be tentatively scheduled for January 1999
• Preparation of a Remedial Action Work Plan Upon regulatory approval, on-site remediation
' should commence
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
of available data points(e g ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary away from
these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
Srecommendations contained in this report
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
