PROCEDURES <br /> 41 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> The following procedures will be performed for the drilling and installation of soil borings and <br /> ground water monitoring wells <br /> 1 Notify the PHS-EHD 48 hours prior to commencement of any work, while securing proper <br /> city/county soil boring permits <br /> • 2 Mark boring locations at least 48 hours in advance for an Underground Service Alert (USA) <br /> check of underground utilities or pipes <br /> 3 Advance at least three soil borings using a truck-mounted drill rig and 8-inch diameter <br /> hollow stem augers (single-completed wells), advance at least one boring using a truck- <br /> mounted drill rig and I0-inch diameter hollow stem augers (dual-completed) The proposed <br /> boring locations are shown on Figure 2 <br /> 4 Decontaminate all sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water <br /> prior to each sampling run Steam-clean auger flights before advancement of each boring <br /> 5 Sample soil from each boring, beginning at five feet bsg, utilizing a California split-spoon <br /> sampler and pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves or using a split barrel continuous core <br /> sampler At least one soil boring will be continuously sampled using a five-foot macro core <br /> sampler <br /> 6 Preserve soil in the brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets, capping, and <br /> sealing with tape <br /> 7 Label each preserved sample with location, boring designation, depth, date, time and <br /> sampler's initials <br /> 8 Store the samples under ice and transport the samples in a chilled ice chest to a state-certified <br /> laboratory for analysis <br /> . 9 Screen soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organics using a photo-ionization <br /> detector (PID) pre-calibrated to isobutylene <br /> Advanced GeoEnviromnental, Inc <br />
