26 April 2002
AGE-NC Protect No 95-0173
' Page 5 of 8
' 43 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
Between 01 October 2001 and 31 December 2001, the SVE and IAS remediation systems were
' operational for approximately 1,822 hours(Table 7) During the operational period, SVE inlet flow
rates ranged from 80 to 120 cubic feet per minute (Table 5), differential pressures ranged between
2 4 and 4 5 inches of water, and induced vacuum between 24 and 39 inches of water Utilizing a
' photo ionization meter(PID),hydrocarbon concentrations were measured between I 1 and 140 parts
per million(ppm)at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field measurements are summarized in Table
6
4 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
1 °
SVE air flow samples were collected on 15 October, 07 November and 10 December 2001 TPH-g
was detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as 1,400 µg/l,TPH-
' g was detected in one effluent SVE air flow sample at a concentration of 190 µg/1
BTEX compounds were detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high
lie as 140 µg11 (xylenes, 15 October 2001) The maximum benzene concentration was detected in the
15 October 2001 at a concentration of 2 6 µg/1,BTEX constituents were detected in all three effluent
SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as 8 2 µg/l Analytical results of SVE air flow
' samples are summarized in Table 5 The laboratory reports(McCampbell Analytical Laboratory I D
Nos 80939-40,83113-14 and 85703-04) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix D
' A plot of laboratory analysis of SVE influent TPH-g air flow concentrations versus time is included
with Appendix E
' 4 5 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
' The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating penod was calculated using the equation
M= C.Q.t
where M =cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C, =vapor concentration Ckg/m')
Q = extraction flow rate (M3/hr)
t=operational period, in hours
Between 01 October 2001 and 31 December 2001 (fourth quarter 2001), the SVE unit operated a
1 total of 1,822 hours(Table 7) The average analytical results(approximately 1,200 µg/l)of the SVE
■ air flow samples (Table 5), average flow rates(approximately 82 cfm,Table 6) and the operational
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
