I
' 20 August 2003
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
4 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
1
A total of nineteen ground water samples were submitted to Castle Analytical Laboratory (CAL),
a DHS-certified laboratory, for analysis TPH-g was detected in groundwater samples collected from
wells MW-1 through MW-4, MW-6, MW-13 (A and C), AW-1 (A and B) and AW-2 (A and B) at
concentrations as high as 85,000 micrograms per liter(µg11) in the sample from AW-lA
' Various BTEX constituents were detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1
through MW-4,MW-6, MW-13 (A-C),AW-1 (A-B) and AW-2 (A-B) at concentrations as high as
' 11,000 µg11 (xylene, AW-IA) The maximum benzene concentration was detected from sample
AW-1A at a concentration of 4,000 µg11
' MTBE was detected in a water sample collected from MW-5 at a concentration of 1 1 µg/l, 1,2-DCA
was detected in water samples collected from MW-3,MW-5 and AW-2A at concentrations as high
as 1 8 µg11,respectively No other fuel components were detected in the samples analyzed Previous
and current analytical results of ground water monitoring well samples are summarized in Tables 3
and 4,respectively The laboratory report(CAL reference no 5632)and chain-of-custody forms are
presented in Appendix C
1
43 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
'
Between 17 December 2002 and 20 March 2003, the SVE and IAS remediation systems were
operational for approximately 2,132 hours(Tables 6 and 7) During the operational period,SVE inlet
flow rates were calculated to be approximately 110 cubic feet per minute, differential pressures were
observed at approximately 4 4 inches of water, and induced vacuum between 22 and 50 inches of
' water Utilizing a photo ionization meter (PID), hydrocarbon concentrations were measured at
concentrations as high as 141 parts per million (ppm) at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field
measurements are summarized in Table 6
1
4 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
Influent and effluent SVE air flow samples were collected on 17 December 2002, 21 January 2003
and 26 February 2003 TPH-g was detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at
concentrations of 530 gg/l, 270 µg/1 and 120 µg/l TPH-g was not detected in any of the above
effluent air flow samples
Various BTEX constituents were detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at
• concentrations as high as 26 µg/l (xylenes, 17 December 2002), benzene was only detected in the
' Advanced QeoEnvironmental,Inc
