' 19 January 2004
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' Page 6of10
' 33 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
A total of three sets of extracted air flow vapor samples were collected on 22 July, 25 August, and
' 23 September 2004 from the influent of the regenerative vacuum blower unit to measure
concentrations of hydrocarbon vapor and from the effluent carbon canisters to measure hydrocarbon
vapor adsorption The samples were collected in Tedlar bags using a hand air-vacuum pump
' Following sample collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a covered container, and
transported under chain ofcustodyto Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL),aDHS-certified
' laboratory, for analysis Each sample was analyzed within 72 hours of collection for TPH-g,BTEX,
and MTBE in accordance with EPA Methods 8015M and 8021
' 3 4 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION/IN-SITU AIR SPARGE REMEDIATION FINDINGS
From field and laboratory data collected at the SVE remediation system between 22 June and
23 September 2004, AGE determined the average TPH-g concentration and the average flow rate,
. and calculated the approximate mass and volume of hydrocarbons removed
' 3 4 1 Results of Soil Vapor Extraction
Between 22 June and 23 September 2004, the SVE remediation system was operational for
approximately 2,232 hours(Tables 6 and 7) The IAS system cycled or operated contemporaneously
with the SVE system During this operational period, SVE inlet flow rates were observed to average
approximately 73 cubic feet per minute(cfm)from differential pressures observed between 18 and
' 2 2 inches of water, with induced vacuum measurements observed between 49 and 58 inches of
water Utilizing a PID,petroleum hydrocarbons were measured at concentrations as high as 194 parts
per million(ppm)at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field measurements are summarized in Table
6
3 4 2 Analytical Results of Vapor Extraction Air Flow Samples
Influent and effluent SVE air flow samples were collected on 22 July,25 August, and 23 September
' 2004 TPH-g was detected in the influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations of 360 jig/l,
1,200µg/1,and 1,400 p g/l,respectively TPH-g was also detected in the July,August,and September
effluent air flow samples at concentrations of 120 }tg/l, 480 pg/l, and 500 µg/l, respectively
Advanced GeoEnviron mental Inc
