' 31 August 2004
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' Page 7 of 10
3 4 1 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
I
Between 30 December 2003 and 24 March 2004, the SVE remediation system was operational for
approximately 2,040 hours(Tables 6 and 7) The IAS system cycled or operated contemporaneously
with the SVE system During this operational period, SVE inlet flow rates were observed to average
approximately 71 cubic feet per minute, from a differential pressures observed at approximately 2 1
inches of water, with induced vacuum measurements observed between 55 and 64 inches of water
' Utilizing a photo ionization meter (PID), hydrocarbon concentrations were measured at
concentrations as high as 317 parts per million (ppm) at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field
' measurements are summarized in Table 6
' 3 4 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
Influent and effluent SVE air flow samples were collected on 26 January, on 23 February and on 24
March 2004 TPH-g was detected in the January and February influent SVE air flow samples at
concentrations of 220 µg/1 and 330 gg/l, respectively TPH-g was also detected in the January 2004
• effluent air flow sample at a concentration of 42 µg/1
' BTEX constituents were detected in the January influent SVE air flow sample at concentrations of
p
0 99 µg/1 benzene, 1 6 µg/1 toluene,0 54 µg/1 ethylbenzene and 5 7 µg/1 xylene Low concentrations
of BTEX constituents were detected in the January 2004 effluent SVE air flow sample at
concentrations 0 31 µg/1 benzene, 0 43 µg/1 toluene, 0 12 µg/I ethylbenzene and 0 13 µg/l xylene
' Analytical results of SVE air samples are summarized in Table 5 The laboratory reports (CAL
Reference No 6564 and CTEL Laboratory I D No 0402-139 and 0403-188) and chain-of-custody
' forms are presented in Appendix D A plot of laboratory analysis of SVE influent TPH-g air stream
concentrations versus time is included with Appendix E GeoTracker confirmation pages of the
submitted laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) files are included in Appendix G
3 4 3 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the equation
M= C•Q•t
where M =cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C =vapor concentration (kg/m')
Q = extraction flow rate (m'/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
' Advanced Gcoltnvironmental,Inc
