' 31 August 2004
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
IPage 10 of 10
I A spike in the PID field measurements and influent SVE air samples was evident during the
fourth quarter 2003 monitoring period and coincided with the operation of IAS well AW-IB
and the reconfiguration of the SVE well network from VW-1 through VW-7 to VW-1
through VW-4 SVE Wells VW-5 through VW-7 were closed at the well-heads due to only
trace levels of petroleum hydrocarbons observed at these wells from PID field measurements
(Table 6) However, during the first quarter 2004 monitoring period, IAS well AW-2B was
' utilized and concentrations steadily declined to non-detect levels
I5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon first quarter 2004 data collected from the site, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling at the site,to reduce unnecessary
sampling/analytical costs AGE recommends removal of wells with four consecutive events
with no detection of contamination from the sampling program (MW-7, MW-8, MW-10,
MW-11 and MW-12) Ground water sampling of the remaining should continue quarterly
• to monitor progress of the SVE and IAS remediation system
IContinued operation of the on-site SVE and IAS remediation system, however, to optimize
the effective radius of Influence in the `core' area of the plume, AGE recommends only
I extraction from SVE wells VW-1, VW-2 and alternating sparging pressure to wells AW-1
(A and B) Remediation progress will be re-evaluated on a quarterly basis
' G.O. LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using the degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
I upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluation of the hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation is made from a limited number of available
data points (e g ground water and soil vapor samples), and subsurface conditions may vary away
from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
interpretations, opinions and recommendations contained in this report
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
