I04 February 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0173 <br /> Page 2of10 <br /> letter dated 18 November 2002 (Appendix A), EW-1 was installed under San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department drilling permit (Appendix A) <br /> 2 1 GROUND WATER EXTRACTION WELL INSTALLATION PROCEDURES <br /> I Ground water extraction well EW-1 was installed at the site to a depth of 65 feet bsg Dnllmg was <br /> performed by Mitchell Drilling Environmental utilizing a CME-75 high torque,truck-mounted drill <br /> ng equipped with 15-inch diameter hollow-stem augers All soil cuttings generated from drilling <br /> activities were stockpiled in a covered 20 yard soil bin located in the east section of the site, the <br /> ground water extraction well location is depicted in Figure 2 <br /> I2 1 1 Soil Sampling and Analysis <br /> fDuring drilling, discrete soil samples were collected at 5 foot intervals beginning at 15 feet bsg to <br /> total depth of the boring Soil samples were collected from EW-1 utilizing a California split-spoon <br /> sampler loaded with 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves,the sampler was dnven by dropping a 140-pound <br />'• weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows required to drive each 6-inch length of the <br /> sampler (blow counts) was recorded on boring logs by an AGE staff geologist, boring logs are in <br /> IAppendix B <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br /> then capping and sealing the ends with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil <br /> boring designation, depth, time, date and sampler's initials <br /> I Each preserved soil sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed in a chilled container and <br /> transported to Castle Analytical Laboratory (CAL), a California Department of Health Services <br /> (DHS)-certified laboratory, selected samples were analyzed for <br />' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g)by EPA Method 5030/8015M, <br /> • Benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene,xylene(BTEX)and methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)by <br /> EPA Methods 8020 and 8260, and <br /> • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including di-isopropyl ether(RIPE), ethyl tert-butyl <br /> ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tert-butanol (TBA) by EPA Method <br /> 5030/8260 <br /> Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
