05 May 1997
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
' 4 12 Collection of Ground Water Samples
On 14 November 1997, one ground water sample was collected from IAS well AW-1, logged on a
chain of custody form, placed in a chilled container and transported to Alpha Analytical Laboratories
Inc (AAL) for analysis of manganese and iron
' 4 1 3 Field Measurements And Data Collection
' Field measurements were collected from wells MW-1 through MW-4, VW-1 and VW-2 throughout
the duration of the IAS pilot test and included induced pressure, organic vapor concentrations,
ground water depth and dissolved oxygen Induced pressure was measured at each well using
Magnehelic differential pressure gauges, organic vapor concentrations were measured at each well
head using an organic vapor analyzer equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo
Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene), ground water depth was measured using
a Solinst water level meter, and dissolved oxygen was measured using a YSI Model 55 dissolved
oxygen meter Field data collected during the IAS pilot test is summarized on Table 6
42 RESULTS OF IN-SITU AIR SPARGING PILOT TEST
' 4 2 1 Induced Pressure
' A plot of induced pressure (IP) measurements versus time indicated initial increases after only one
to two hours of IAS operation from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3, VW-1 and VW-2
(Appendix F), significant pressure changes were not observed in MW-4
The greatest IP measurements were recorded from wells MW-I and MW-3 Monitoring well MW-3
is located approximately 15 feet west of IAS well AW-1, well MW-1 is located approximately 57
feet east of IAS well AW-2 Generally, IP measurements fluctuated between 0 1 and 0 7 inches of
water in MW-3, induced pressure measurements fluctuated between 0 1 and 0 4 inches of water in
MW-1
Monitoringpoints MW-2,VW-1 and VW-2 recorded positive IP measurements during the IAS pilot
test Monitoring well MW-2 is located approximately 40 feet south of AW-1, SVE well VW-1 is
located approximately 12 feet east ofAW-1 and 18 feet west of AW-2, SVE well VW-2 is located
annrnvim%t.?ly 10 fPPt wact of A W-1 TP measuremPntc recorded from wells MW-2. VW-1 and VW-
Mj/j./a Vl1AAiM rvaJ w i avrr v.i•vw f+ + ++ — — + —--- - --
2 were generally between 0 03 and 0 06 inches of water
• It is not understood at this time why IP observations and distance measurements from MW-1
Advanced GeoEntronmeatal,Inc
