' 14 February 2005
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0128
3 2 MASS CALCULATION OF RECOVERED PRODUCT
The e mass of hydrocarbons removed was calculated from the volume of water treated and the
concentrations from laboratory analysis A total volume of 230,860 gallons was extracted between
May and December 2004,based on effluent flaw meter observations Generally, poor ground water
production was observed during the operation of extraction well EW-1,while excellent ground water
production was observed after extraction began from well EW-2
Based on the total water volume extracted, 0 516 lbs of MTBE, 0 02 lbs of benzene and 1 69 lbs of
TPH-g were removed from the site and treated The hydrocarbon mass removal calculations and the
concentration trends of the influent samples over time are displayed in Appendix C
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the results of remediation operation
• A volume of 230,860 gallons were extracted between 15 May and 14 December 2004 A
•` total of 2,048,941 gallons have been extracted since the inception of the ground water
treatment in October 2001
• During the reporting period, approximately 0 516 lbs of MTBE, 0 02 lbs of benzene and
169 lbs of TPH-g were removed from the site and treated by the ground water extraction
system A total of 10 5 lbs of MTBE, 4 77 lbs of BTEX and 73 12 lbs of TPH-g have been
removed since October 2001
• The average extraction rate from well EW-1 was less than 2 gallons per minute during the
reporting period Approximately 6 feet of ground water is present in well EW-1 casing
While the average extraction rate from well EW-2 was at least 10 gallons per minute during
the reporting period
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results ofI dprevious
th s an Investigations, AGE recommends
• Continued ground water monitoring of the site Removal of wells MW-7, MW-9, MW-10,
MW-13, MW-14 from the sampling schedule
• Continued Interim ground water extraction and treatment as a remedial measure with
• incorporation of well EW-2 for ground water extraction Initiation of soil vapor extraction
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
