Third Quarter 1998 monitoring and sampling Report and Closure Abstract 3 <br /> The Southland corporation,4501 North Pershing Avenue Stockton CA October 7 1998 <br /> Purgewater Disposal <br /> All purgewater generated during this Third Quarter monitoring and sampling event was stored in 55-gallon <br /> 1 Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums Approwmately 34 gallons of purge water,generated <br /> during this sampling event will be transported from the site during the fourth quarter of 1998, by Belshlre <br /> Environmental Services, Inc and later transported by Nieto $Sons to DeMenno Kerdoon In Compton, <br /> California for treatment and disposal Waste disposal documentation will be forwarded once received <br /> Closure Abstract <br /> The UST upgrades scheduled to occur in 1998 constitute effective source removal of the hydrocarbon <br /> plume, as tank replacement will eliminate potential fue-ing sista—. eaKs If after source removal at tnls site, <br /> dissolved hydrocarbon concentrations are shown to have declined to acceptable limits, Fluor Daniel GTI will <br /> ask for closure of this site, on behalf of the Southland Corporation, based on 1)the declining or non- <br /> detectable dissolved BTEX and MTBE concentrations in groundwater away from the source,2) the likely <br /> continuing naturally occurring biodegradation of the residual hydrocarbon plume, and 3) removal of the <br /> hydrocarbon source <br /> If you have any questions or comments concerning this quarterly report, please call our Martinez office at <br />�r (510) 370-3990 <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Fluor Daniel GTI,Inc.
