PHS/EHD has a contract
with California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct an
underground storage tank corrective action program. The above
referenced site was placed in the PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program
(LOP) in March 1992 .
PHS/EHD has completed review of our records for the above
referenced site . Three underground storage tanks (USTs) were
removed in 1992 . An overexcavation of contaminated soil was
performed; approximately 360 cubic yards of contaminated material
was removed and disposed.
Five groundwater monitoring wells were installed on site and a
groundwater investigation was conducted. In 1995 additional on
site and off site soil and groundwater samples were collected.
Groundwater samples from the on site monitoring wells have
continued to decline and are now near detection limits . Residual
gasoline contamination exists in soil and groundwater east of the
former USTs as evidenced in Kennedy/Jenks Consultants report in
1995 .
Additional soil and groundwater data east of this site will be
available soon; a site assessment is scheduled for the Southland
Corporation property at 4501 North Pershing. Based upon the data
collected at Southland, PHS/EHD should be able to evaluate the
existance of any comingled plumes resulting from the gasoline
releases at the two sites . After the data is reviewed, PHS/EHD
will comment on your consultant' s request for closure .
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
