-ala an's
: l ' y
Ai
J L
r,+ Chevron U.S.A. - Page 9
•, would be backfilled with 3 sand/cement :slurry with 3% bentonite added from the
seal to the surface vault. A locking well head would be installed, and a water-
Y tight surface vault would be placed at grade for well security. The design of the
proposed ground water monitoring wells is in general compliance with the State of
California Department of Water Resources Bulletin 74-88 (Draft) Monitoring Well
Standards OWR 163907). Please refer to Plate 3 at the end of the text which
illustrates typical well construction.
Ground water monitoring wells would be d-:veloped by means of pumping.
Sampling of the monitoring wells would be accomplished by means of a teflon
bailer. Well development water would be retained in drums at the subject
property pending proper disposal by Chevron after results of chemical analysis
were complete. Auger cuttings from the drilling operation will be placed in
steel drums on-site, and drums will be identified as to the boring and depths
j from which the cuttings originated. Those auge. cuttings which do not exhibit
obvious presence contamination by field screening with a portable photoionization
detector will be segregated into "clean" drums for future composite sampling.
Chemical analysis of samples obtained from soil borings will dictate the
appropriate disposition of those contaminated soils by Chevron. Exploratory soil
borings not completed as wells will be backfilled to the surface with cement
`r gnat at the subject property upon termination.
Each well head would :e surveyed, and the existing well heads would be re-
surveyed to establish the surface elevation to a common benchmark. The survey
would be utilized in evaluation of the water surface elevations and ground water
DAME N 4. N10ORF.
