1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> The subject property is a fire station operated by the City of <br /> t central Stockton (Figure 1) . <br /> Stockton, and located in vies <br /> On October 3, 1988 and January 9, 1989, soil samples were <br /> collected at the site during the removal ockton o 55 0 Sgallon <br /> on <br /> underground diesel s.:orag: tank by <br /> Equipment Company, Inc. Two samples were collected from <br /> beneath product piping and one from native soil beneath the <br /> former u/g storage tank. <br /> Laboratory analysis Of the samples indicated inthat elevated <br /> concentrations of certain petroleum by <br /> were present in soils beneath the former tank (Table 1) . <br /> Cn September 7, 1990, the former tank pit was enlarged and <br /> deepened in an attempt at complete source removal (Figure 2). <br /> Excavation was conducted under the general supervision tockton <br /> f, and <br /> according to the workplan prepared and submitted.by. Stockton <br /> Service Station, Equipment r:ompary, <br /> RESNA <br /> Industries/WaterWork Corp. (RESNA) personnel were present in <br /> a consulting capacity. <br /> Excavation proceeded until site attributes including public <br /> and private thoroughfares prevented further enlargement of the <br /> pit. Subsequent to excavation, WaterWork personnel collected <br /> 5 soil samples from the pit walls and one sample from the <br /> floor of the pit (Figure 2). <br /> Laboratory analysis of the samples indicate that petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon contaminants are present in soils still in place. <br /> I on the south and east walls of the pit as well as the pit <br /> fable.
