WATERWORK
GEOC Gt+GFOTFCHNICAL•ErjMRCNMENTAL
October 9, 1990 FILE
Mr. Jim Escobar
City of Stockton
425 North El Dorado Street
Stockton, CA 95202-1997
Re: City of Stockton Fire Station # 6, 1501 Picardy Drive,
Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Escobar:
The attached report describes the soil sampling and laboratory
results for re-excavation at the above referenced site (Figure 1).
The re-excavation and sampling were conducted on September 7,
1990. Although a substantial amount of diesel contaminated soil
was removed, the excavation was limited on all sides by City
walkways. Additional removal of soils could not be achieved
.laterally and from below 14 feet without destroying City
walkways. Laboratory results indicate significant concentrations
of diesel hydrocarbons remain in the soils beneath the location
of the former underground diesel storage tank (Table 1 and Figure
2). Because of a fairly shallow water table (approximately 35-40
feet below grade) the San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division will likely require the
installation of a monitoring well(s) to determine if groundwater
has been impacted. In addition, the County will likely require
further remediation of soils remaining in plaeestrian and
if re-
excavation of soils is undesirable due to heavy p
vehicular traffic in the area, other alternatives such as cap
and monitor or soil venting may be employed.
If you have any questions or require additional assistance,
please contact me at our Escalon office 209/838-3507.
Respectfully:
WaterWork
Bill Channell
Senior.
