SPILL, LEAK OR DISPOSAL PROCEDURES I <br /> i <br /> Actions To Take in Case of Spills or Leaks: Restrict from areas of <br /> spy I Is or eaxs persons not wearing protective equipment and clothing. <br /> Eliminate sources of ignition. Prevent <br /> leakage into confined spaces or sewer drains. Where feasible, absorb <br /> Iiquid with vermiculite, sand, or other non-combustible absorbent <br /> material. Collect in suitable container and cover. <br /> Disposal Methods: Federal laws and regulations impose highly specific <br /> requirements for disposal of toxic and otherwise hazardous materials. <br /> Consult with your supervisor or health and safety officer regarding the <br /> proper, legal disposal procedures for this substance. Do not dispose of <br /> potentially toxic or otherwise hazardous substances witnout appropriate <br /> authorization. Prior to receiving institutional authorization, it may be <br /> necessary to store spilled materials. To do so safely, carefully label <br /> containers of materials, store in a cool, dry location, and maintain <br /> security of the storage area until official guidance is obtained. <br /> SECTION X. SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION <br /> Respiratory Protection: Only NIOSH cr MSHA approved equipment should be <br /> used. -- <br /> >300 ppm: Organic vapor canister gas mask or supplied air or <br /> self-contained respirator with full facepiece. <br /> Ventilation: Provide adequate explosion-proof general ventilation and <br /> local exhaust ventilatlon to meet TLV recommendations. <br /> Protective Clothing or Equipment: <br /> o To prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact with liquid chemicals, <br /> use impervious clothing, gloves, face shields (eight-inch minimum), <br /> splash-proof safety goggles, and other appropriate protective <br /> ! clothing. <br /> o Place clothing contaminated with liquids in closed containers for <br /> storage until clothing can be discarded or decontaminated.
