The Report provided the groundwater monitoring
results of one monitoring well (MW-1) sampled on 22 February 2011 (grab sample) and 11 March 2011
(full purge). The grab sample results were non-detect, while the full purge sample concentrations were
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), 140 micrograms per Liter (ug/L) and methyl tert butyl
ether (MTBE), 120 ug/L. The results demonstrate that petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations have
declined since February 2008. The Report recommends closure and well abandonment.
I also reviewed the Report-referenced 30 August 2004 Closure Summary Report and 31 October 2008
Additional Site Assessment Report for content related to Regional Board case closure requirements.
Please provide the following documents and supplemental information by 30 July 2011, to continue the
closure process. Additional directives will be provided after receipt and my review.
• A draft one page public notice in MS Word for public participation, by email to me.
• A list of property owners and tenants within 500' of the Site,
• a parcel map of the site and neighboring properties, and
• A letter report containing the following additional information required for site closure:
1. The estimated time for TPHg and MTBE in MW-1 to reach water quality goals,
2. Mass estimates (initial and residual) for groundwater, and
3. A risk evaluation for soil, soil vapor and potential threats to nearby domestic wells
If you have any questions, you can contact me at (916) 464-4615 or by e-mail at
ib rton waterboards.ca. ov.
:'James L.L.
