July 19, 2010
To: Donna Heran
From: Nuel Henderson
Subject: Sites Identified for Closure by the State Cleanup Fund
This memo is in response to your inquiry to me on July 13, 2010, concerning the current
status of the 24 sites identified by Bob Tommer by email on February 18, 2010 as being
ready for closure. I had provided Mr. Trommer the then current status of each site and
estimates of the timeframe to close 19 of those sites, the remaining five requiring more
extensive corrective action. Ms. Barbara Evoy, of the State Cleanup Fund, issued a
letter to you dated April 21, 2010, informing EHD that these 19 sites are subject to
potential closure by the State Board if we do not get them closed ourselves. I have
reviewed the current status of the 19 sites and found our progress toward closure as
noted below.
Three have been closed:
• 2360 East Street
• 1207 Aurora Street
• 15600 Harlan Road
Three will be closed as soon as documentation of the disposal of the wastes associated
with the monitoring well destructions has been received (closures are imminent):
• 110 N. Filbert Street
• 814 E. Charter Way
• 1501 W. Charter Way
Two sites are ready to have 30-day closure notifications prepared to send to Regional
Board:
• 632 S. EI Dorado Street
• 444 W. Mossdale Road.
Four sites have been or will soon be directed to submit a Site Closure Summary Report
or a No Further Action Request Report:
• 5491 F Street
• 574 Grant Line Road
• 4100 E. Fremont Street
0 545 E. Miner Avenue.
