Page I of 2
Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2008 9:30 AM
To: 'Kirk Larson'
Subject: RE: Site Reviews
Kirk:
425 Larch Road is an MTBE site. The plume is not defined laterally. Two of the three monitoring wells installed
in February 2007 are impacted. Interim remediation is needed to contain the plume.
1419 Charter Way is a site with one monitoring well (MW-2) impacted with high concentrations of gas, BTEX,
and 1,2-DCA. There is an ozone injection system in operation and the consulting firm is recommending three
additional sparge points. Our department has approved the installation of two new monitoring wells and the
advancement of one CPT boring.
3400 Newton Road is a site where monitoring well MW-1 has had a history of being impacted with gas, BTEX,
and MTBE. Groundwater is at approximately 62 feet and MW-1 is screened between 44 -64 feet below surface
grade (bsg). As a result, groundwater is not available to be sampled each quarter. Our department has
approved the installation of four new monitoring wells to delineate the groundwater plume laterally, and our
department has approved a forty-eight-hour groundwater extraction pilot test.
1607 Turnpike is a site where our department has directed additional investigation to determine if a comingled
plume exists between this site and the adjacent site located at 1601 Turnpike. The lateral extent of the
petroleum hydrocarbon plume is undefined to the east and southeast of this site. Our department has also
recommended a deep well be installed in the source area. A work plan is due to our department by June 5,
2008.
3230 North West Lane is a site with a municipal well located about 250 feet south of the site. Low
concentrations of 1,2-DCA are present in the two deepest monitoring wells screened between approximately 60
and 70 feet bsg. In February 2008 three CPT borings (two on site and one off site) were advanced along with
three borings to depths of five feet to collect soil gas samples. The results from this investigation have not been
submitted yet.
3147 El Dorado Street is a site where the vertical extent of contamination in soil is defined in the source area
but additional investigation is needed to define the dissolved petroleum-hydrocarbon plume south-southeast of
the former USTs in the shallow zone. Our department is awaiting a work plan for this investigation as well as a
work plan for a soil vapor extraction pilot test study.
983 Moffat Blvd. is a site that is in the process of being closed. In fact, the closure letter is being sent by
our department today and GeoTracker will be updated at that time.
Please let me know if you need additional information about any of these sites.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, California 95202
Phone: (209) 468-9852
Fax: (209) 468-3433
4/29/2008
