Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Study Work Plan
MOORE TRUCK LINES
3400 Newton Road, Stockton,California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
On the behalf of Mrs.Edna Moore of Moore Truck Lines,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.(AGE)
has prepared this Soil vapor Extraction Pilot Study Work Plan for 3400 Newton Road, Stockton,
California(site). The scope of work includes performance of a twenty four-hour SVE pilot test at the
site and preparation of a report of findings with recommendations.Site monitoring well construction
details are summarized in Table 1.
Site and surrounding area are illustrated in Figure 1.Site structures, former underground storage tank
(UST) location, soil borings, and monitoring well locations are illustrated on Figure 2. Site
background information, including historical analytical ground water tables and a detailed
description of the regional geological/hydrogeological setting,is included Appendix A.A geologic
cross section is depicted in Figure 3.Dissolved total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
(TPH-g) is depicted in Figure 4 as reported from 16 and 17 June 2008 site investigations.
The enclosed work plan was prepared in response to a directive letter from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD) dated 10 January 2008. The EHD letter directed the
evaluation of mitigation methods to address the secondary source of contamination with the methyl
tertairy butyl ether(MTBE)believed to be migrating downward through the vadose zone impacting
ground water.
2.0. PROCEDURES
Based on historic soil and ground water monitoring data collected from the site, AGE proposes to
use wells MW-1 and MW-8 for a soil vapor extraction(SVE)pilot study in the vicinity of the former
UST excavation. The monitoring wells(MW-2 through MW-7)on-site are to be used as observation
wells during the testing. AGE proposes to conduct one 24-hour SVE pilot test at the site. The
extraction and monitoring well locations are depicted on Figure 2. The SVE pilot testing will be
conducted from wells MW-1 (screened from 44 to 64 feet)and MW-8(screened from 60 to 70 feet)
(see Table 1). Currently ground water is not encountered in wells MW-1 and MW-8.
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Professional Geologist. Procedures for remediation feasibility pilot study are described below.
Drilling and SVE/IAS pilot study activities will consist of the following tasks:
• Pre-field work activities;
• Preparation of monitoring wells and performance of an 24-hour SVE pilot test; and
• Preparation of reports.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
