ti
1 Mr. James Mills and Ms. Karen Gfacopuzzi - 3 - 23 April 2002
Westrec Properties
i Specific Comments:
1. The Report states that groundwater monitoring and reporting was done in accordance with MRP No.
95-802 and revised MRP No. 95-802. MRP No. 5-00-824 was issued 19 June 2000 and supercedes
MRP No. 95-802. In future reports, please reference the correct MRP(s).
2. There is no groundwater monitoring well directly downgradient of both MW,-3 and MW-4. A Work
Plan/Remedial Action Plan(1993 Workplan), dated 30 September 1993, shows proposed locations for
monitoring wells MW-7 and MW-8. The well installations proposed for the 1993 Workplan were not
completed, apparently because of the USACE concerns for drilling into the unstable Potato Slough
levee. MW-7 and MW-8 were to be located in the trailer park/campground, which is not on the unstable
Potato Slough levee. MW-7 was to be located downgradient of MW_4, and MW-8 was to be located I
,._ dowradien,t of_MW-2.._.S.ince the Report_states_that the,.gr_oundwaier plume isatable,_and the,Letter
proposes changing the MRP schedule to annual sampling, we request that the present downgradient j
extent of the groundwater plume be established. E
3. The Report recommends removing TBA and ethanol from MRP No. 5-00-824. Any change to the
MRP will require issuing a new MRP. We will evaluate all MRP change requests after reviewing the
results of the groundwater investigation.
4. TPH-g has been added for MW-2 for one round of sampling, effective immediately. TPH-g analysis,
is now necessary for MW-2, since MtBE (gasoline additive) has consistently been detected in that well
since 2000. If TPH-g is detected in MW-2, then that analysis will be included.in a new MRP.
By 1 June 2002,provide the following:
0 a Workplan for a groundwater investigation to establish the downgradient extent of the plume.
The Workplan may propose characterization using any of the following: direct-push sampling
methods, Hydropunch 0, sampling methods, or additional monitoring wells.
f
I i
If you have any questions; you•maycontact-me-at (916)-255-3050.
ames L.
