1 <br />' 22 May 2003 <br /> • AGE-NC Protect No 97-0333 <br />' Page 3 of 5 <br />' 23 BORING LOGS <br /> As stated above, soil samples were not collected during drilling activities for MW-7 through <br />' MW-12 However,boring logs for wells MW-7 through MW-12 are Included with Appendix Band <br /> document the completion of each well Based on previous soil boring and cone penetrometer testing <br /> (CPT) data, the general lithology beneath the site with respect to the locations of wells MW-7 <br />' through MW-12 are depicted in cross sectional views D-D' and G-G' on Figures 3 and 4, <br /> respectively <br /> I2 4 MONITORING WELL COMPLETION <br />' Soil borings MW-7 through and MW-12 were completed as ground water monitoring wells utilizing <br /> 1 7-inch diameter continuous polyethylene multichannel tubing (CMT) The Inside of the CMT <br /> consisted of seven Y2-inch diameter chambers (Figure 5), AGE utilized six of the seven CMT <br /> Ichambers and installed screen intervals at depths between 15 and 25 feet bsg (Hydrologic Unit 1), <br /> 40 and 45 feet bsg(Hydrologic Unit 2),70 and 75 feet bsg(Hydrologic Unit 3), 95 and 100 feet bsg <br /> (Hydrologic Unit 4), 120 and 125 feet bsg (Hydrologic Unit 5) and between 145 and 150 feet bsg <br /> (Hydrologic Unit 6) Each screen interval consisted of drilling 3/s-inch diameter holes at regular <br /> intervals, wrapping each 3/8-inch diameter hole with a stainless steel, 0 02-inch mesh screen and <br /> securing the mesh screen with stainless steel locking clamps <br /> After deploying the multi-level well casing in the hollow stem boring to total depth, filter pack <br /> I material consisting of pre-washed#3 Lonestar sand was added through the hollow stem augers to <br /> approximately two feet above each screened interval A bentonite seal(coated bentonite pellets)was <br /> placed between each filter pack interval to minimize the potential for cross contamination into the <br /> I screened section of the well Each bentonite seal was formed by pouring coated bentonite pellets into <br /> the annulus and allowing them to settle (hydrate) on the filter pack The remaining annular space <br /> above the uppermost screen interval and bentonite seal was filled to 1-foot bsg with a portland type <br />' cement grout The grout mixture consisted of Type I/II portland neat cement Water-tight, traffic- <br /> rated well boxes were then installed over the wells utilizing a neat cement The top view of wells <br /> MW-7 through MW-12 are depicted in Figures 5 through 10, respectively, for the screen interval <br /> locations relative to a reference mark located in "Interval A", well construction details for MW-7 <br /> through MW-12 are depicted in Figures 11 through 16, respectively <br /> I <br /> 25 WELL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES <br /> On 19 February 2003, depth to water and total depth measurements were collected from each <br /> screened interval of wells MW-7 through MW-12 utilizing a Solinst water level indicator <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
