INTRODUCTION <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this work plan for installation of six multi- <br /> level ground water monitoring wells at 14749 North Thornton Road,Lodi, California(the site) The <br /> location of the site is illustrated on Figure I A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> The proposed scope of work is in accordance with a verbal directive from the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD,telephone conversation with Mr Michael Infurna on <br /> 03 April 2002) Prior to implementing a Corrective Action Plan(CAP)for the site,additional ground <br /> water monitoring wells are required to determine the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-impacted ground water Upon completion of the additional assessment, a report of <br /> findings and/or a Problem Assessment Report (PAR) will be prepared <br /> This work plan is prepared in accordance with California Regional Water Quality Control Board - <br /> CentraI Valley Region (RWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tanks <br /> (UST) sites <br /> • 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at 14749 North Thornton Road, approximately 500 feet south of the intersection <br /> of Kettleman Lane and Thornton Road, Lodi, San Joaquin County, California (Figure 1) The site <br /> is presently utilized as a truck-stop, fueling facility and mini-mart Three 12,000-gallon and one <br /> 8,000-gallon above ground storage tanks (ASTs) are presently located on the southwest section of <br /> the property <br /> 21 REGIONAL GEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> According to a Geologic Map of California, published in 1966 by the California Department of <br /> Conservation Division of Mines and Geology, the site area is within the Great Valley Geomorphic <br /> Province(GVGP)of California, a large, elongate,northwest trending structural trough The GVGP <br /> is subdivided into two mayor divisions designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,which <br /> have been filled to the present elevation with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from <br /> Jurassic to present day, creating a nearly flat lying alluvial plain extending from the Tehachapi <br /> Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains in the north The western and eastern boundaries <br /> of this province are comprised of the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively <br /> Based on a General Soil Map from the San Joaquin County Soil Survey, published by the United <br /> States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1992, the site area is described as <br /> Advanced Gen E nviron mental,Inc <br />
