4 • <br /> 23 July 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0249 <br /> Page 7 of 8 <br /> Soils encountered in the borings will be visually classified by an AGE geologist in accordance with <br /> the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS) Additionally,soil samples with be field screened for <br /> the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter equipped with a photo- <br /> ionization detector (PID) precalibrated to isobutylene <br /> Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services <br /> (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents <br /> • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030/3550, <br /> • BTEX, methanol, ethanol, 1,2-DCA, ethylene dibromide (EDB), MTBE, tert-amyl methyl <br /> ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) and tert-butanol <br /> (TBA) by EPA Method 8260 Modified, and <br /> • Total lead by EPA Method 7420 <br /> Laboratory reports for soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control <br /> (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with <br /> • findings and recommendations <br /> In addition, selected soil samples will be analyzed by a microbiological laboratory for microbial <br /> enumeration and physicochemical characteristics, selected soil samples may also be analyzed for <br /> intrinsic permeability,moisture content,porosity and total organic carbon(TOC)in accordance with <br /> the appropriate EPA or ASTM methods Laboratory reports for soil analysis sample chain of custody <br /> documentation will be presented in a report with findings and recommendations <br /> 4 2 WELL COMPLETION <br /> Soil borings MW-7 through MW-12 will be completed as multi-level ground water monitoring wells <br /> utilizing 17-mch diameter polyethylene (outer) tubing The inner tubing will consist of multiple <br /> 'h inch diameter teflon tubes partitioned into separate chambers A stainless steel, 0 02-inch screen <br /> will be wrapped around each perforated area of the tubing A proposed well construction diagram <br /> is depicted in Figure 6 Additional multi-level design information is contained in Appendix A <br /> After installing the well casing in each boring,a filter pack material will be slowly emplaced through <br /> the augers over the screen interval to approximately two feet above the screened intervals Filterpack <br /> material in the multi-level wells will consist of pre-washed #2/12 Lapis Luster Monterey sand <br /> Following placement of the filter pack, the screened interval from each well will be surged for <br /> approximately 20 minutes utilizing a surge tube to assist in settling the filter pack Additional filter <br /> pack material will be added if settling occurs <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
