15 November 1999
i AGE-NC Project No 97-0249
MTBE was not detected in August, September and November 1999 samples collected from the
' domestic drinking water well located in a southwest section of the site utilizing EPA Method 8260
' Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory reports
(McCampbell Analytical Inc I D No 17305 through 173 10) and chain-of-custody forms are
presented in Appendix C
4.4. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The following is a summary based on the findings of the August 1999 investigation
I • The ground water elevation at the site was within the screened interval of wells MW-1
through MW-6
• From April 1999 to August 1999, a substantial decrease in concentrations of dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbons was quantified in ground water samples collected from wells MW-
1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 (Table 2), conversely, a substantial Increase was quantified
lie from MW-6
O MTBE was detected in samples collected from well MW-6 (located some 20 feet northeast
of a domestic drinking water well) at a concentration of 30 ,ug/l
Based upon data collected during the August 1999 monitoring, AGE concludes
• Ground water flow direction appears to be oriented towards wells MW-5 (northeasterly),
towards MW-3 (northwesterly) and towards MW-6 (west-southwesterly) at a gradient of
00013
• Ground water elevations has decreased at the site since April 1999
• The elevated petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations detected in water samples collected from
wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-6 (screened between 5 and 25 feet bsg) suggest that
these wells may be screened within or near the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon "core area"
of the plume
• The lateral extent of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume Is not known southwest,
' west, northwest, north and northeast of the current area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-
6
• Laboratory results of grab ground water samples suggests that there does not appear to be
. a detectable MTBE-impact to the domestic drinking water well at this time
Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental,Inc
