Soil samples <br /> for chemical analysis will be retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon <br /> sheets and plastic end caps. The samples will then be sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on <br /> ice, and transported to the laboratory accompanied by the appropriate chain-of-custody <br /> documentation. <br /> Soil Sampling for Stockpiled Soil <br /> Soil samples will be collected by advancing 2-inch diameter brass sample liners <br /> approximately six inches to one foot into the soil stockpile. One composite sample (4- 1) <br /> will be collected per approximately 100 cubic yards of soil. Soil samples for chemical <br /> analysis will be retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon sheets and <br /> plastic end caps. The samples will then be sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on ice, and <br /> transported to the laboratory accompanied by the appropriate chain-of-custody <br /> documentation. <br /> Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples <br /> Analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as gasoline (TPH-g) will be <br /> performed by modified EPA method 8015 . Analysis for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, <br /> and xylenes (BTEX compounds) will performed by EPA Method 8020. Oxygenates <br /> including MtBE will be analyzed by EPA Method 8260. These analytical methods utilize <br /> gas chromatography and flame-ionization detection, photo-ionization detection or mass <br /> spectrometry. <br />
