ATTACHMENT A <br /> FIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURES <br /> Soil Sampling <br /> Soil samples were collected by advancing 2-inch-diameter brass sample liners into <br /> undisturbed soil, or soil removed from an excavation by a backhoe bucket Soil samples <br /> for chemical analysis were retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon <br /> sheets and plastic end caps The samples were then sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on ice, <br /> and transported to the laboratory accompanied by the appropriate chain-of-custody <br /> documentation. <br /> Soil Sampling for Stockpiled Soil <br /> Soil samples were collected by advancing 2-inch diameter brass sample liners into the soil <br /> stockpile, after removing approximately 6 inches to 1 foot of surface material in the <br /> sample location Soil samples for chemical analysis were retained in the brass liners, <br /> labeled, and capped with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps The samples were then <br /> sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on ice, and transported to the laboratory accompanied by <br /> the appropriate chain-of-custody documentation <br /> Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples <br /> Analysis for TPH-g was performed by DHS/LUFT Method Analysis for benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX compounds), and MtBE were performed by EPA <br /> Method 8020 Fuel oxygenates were performed by EPA Method 8260 Analysis for lead <br /> was done using EPA method 7420 <br />
