_ I S 1"COR <br /> r- <br /> International Incorporated <br /> July 22, 1998 <br /> Project No 7G888-010-01 <br /> Mr Harlin Knoll <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, 3`d Floor r <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> Re Removal and Replacement of Product Lines and Dispensers <br /> Circle K Store #8671 <br /> 8606 Thornton Road <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) has prepared this letter on behalf of Tosco <br /> Marketing Company (Tosco) to document the excavation, removal, and replacement of <br /> product lines and the associated dispensers at the site referenced above (Figures 1 <br />.` and 2) This work was performed in accordance with SECOR's Work Plan for Soil <br /> Sampling During Dispenser Upgrades dated March 23, 1998, and SECOR's Addendum <br /> to Work Plan dated May 11, 1998 The facility upgrades were performed to meet the <br /> EPA's 1998 requirements <br /> I <br /> Soil Sampling- Product Lines and Dispensers f <br /> On May 11 and 14, 1998, a total of fifteen soil samples from ten locations, designated � <br /> i <br /> PL-1 through PL-9, SW-1 through SW-3, and PG-1 through PG-3, were collected from } <br /> beneath the product lines and dispensers and from the top of the underground storage <br /> tanks (USTs) (Figure 2) Excavation and sampling activities were observed and <br /> approved by Mr Harlan Knoll and Mr Michael Kith of the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) <br /> Limited over-excavation to remediate soils was performed to maximum depths of <br /> approximately 7 to 9 feet below ground surface (bgs) at several locations (PL-2, PL-3, <br /> and PL-4) Maximum concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as <br /> gasoline (TPH-g), benzene, and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE) remaining after over- <br /> excavation were reported to be 504 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), 0 232 mg/kg, and <br /> 4 2 mg/kg, respectively Product line and dispenser soil analytical data are presented in <br /> Table 1 and soil sample locations are shown on Figure 2 Field and laboratory <br /> procedures are presented as Attachment A Certified analytical reports and chain-of- <br /> custody documentation are presented as Attachment B <br /> 9912 Business Park Drive, Suite 100, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916)364-1880(916)364-1889 FAX www secor com <br />
