Lpw
GEOMATRIX
7.0 BASIS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
The recommendations made in this report are based on the assumption that soil conditions at
the site do not deviate appreciably from those described herein and encountered in the
exploratory boring. If any variations or undesirable conditions are encountered during
construction, Geomatrix should evaluate the effects these conditions may have an our
recommendations and, if necessary, develop supplemental recommendations. Recommenda-
16* tions are made for the specific project described in this report. Changes in design of the
structures should be evaluated by Geomatrix for their effects on these recommendations.
A Geomatrix representative should observe earthwork and foundation construction to confirm
that subsurface conditions encountered during construction are comparable to those used for
developing the recommendations presented in this report. Unanticipated subsurface conditions,
which cannot be disclosed fully by drilling and sampling boreholes, commonly are encountered
Lo and frequently require additional expenditures to attain a properly constructed project. Some
contingency funding is recommended in case conditions encountered during construction
,., require additional exploration, testing, or design modifications.
LN In the performance of our professional services, Geomatrix, its employees, and its agents
comply with the standards of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of our profession
practicing in the same or similar localities. This report may not provide all of the subsurface
information that may be needed by a contractor to construct the project. No warranty, either
express or implied, is made or intended in connection with the work performed by us, or by the
i. proposal for consulting or other services, or by the furnishing of oral or written reports or
findings. We are responsible for the conclusions and recommendations contained in this report,
which are based on data related only to the specific project and location discussed herein. In
the event conclusions or recommendations based on these data are made by others, such
conclusions and recommendations are not our responsibility unless we have been given an
opportunity to review and concur with such conclusions or recommendations in writing.
+- $.0 REFERENCES
Geomatrix Consultants, Inc., 1993, Seismic ground motion study for San Joaquin River-
Antioch Bridge, Contra Costa County, California, Contract No. 59N772: Final Report
Prepared for the California Department of Transportation.
`a Standard Specification for Public works Construction (latest edition) Published by BNL
Building News, Los Angeles, California.
I:IProject15000s153131LE WI S-MAN.DOC
13
