Eastside Winery,Lodi • 0
Addendum to Monitoring Well Installation Workplan
27 July 2000
Mr. Timothy R. O'Brien
Sacramento Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, CA 95827-3003
ADDENDUM TO GROUNDWATER MONITORING WORKPLAN FOR EAST
SIDE WINERY,LODI, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
I have prepared this addendum to the groundwater monitoring workplan in accordance
with your comments of 17 July 2000.
We now propose three monitoring wells per the attached figure. The groundwater
gradient will be computed from depths to water measured in these three wells. After
determining the gradient in four successive quarters additional well(s)may be
recommended if these are found unsuitable for detecting groundwater impacts of the
disposal ponds.
Bentonite added to the grout mix will be at least 3 percent by weight but less than 5
percent to assure the grout will not shrink excessively. All grout will be placed with a
tremie pipe.
Development of the wells will not occur until more than 24 hours after the grout has been
placed.
Groundwater will be analyzed for the parameters specified in Monitoring Program 58-
539.
Monitoring well permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department.
The sand pack will be surged prior to placing the bentonite seal.
The screened intervals of the wells will cover the first saturated interval. They will not
begin less than 6 feet beneath the existing ground surface. They will not bridge two
apparently separate hydrologic units. They will be long enough so that they we can
reasonably expect them to intersect water even during low water table conditions. During
high water table conditions the water table is likely to be higher than the top of the
perforated interval.
Threaded casing will be used throughout.
1
