Box 1107
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Phase II Site Assessment Report
FORMER LAIDLAW FACILITY
1444 Tillie Lewis Drive, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Van De Pol:
On 11 October 2000,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) advanced six soil probe borings at
1444 Tillie Lewis Drive, Stockton, California. The work was performed as part of a due diligence
investigation at the site by Van De Pol Enterprises in preparation for a property transfer. The field
work was conducted as outlined in the Phase II Site Assessment Work Plan dated 04 October 2000,
and prepared by AGE.
Soil probe borings B-I through B-6 were advanced utilizing a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 using
"direct push"technology. Soil probe boring B-1 was advanced vertically to a depth of 20 feet below
surface grade(bsg),borings B-2,B-5 and B-6 were advanced to 15 feet bsg and borings B-3 and B-4
were advanced to 5 feet bsg. A site map showing the soil probe boring locations is attached (See
figure 1).
Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet bsg,to total depth of each
boring. Soil samples were collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four pre-
cleaned 1.125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves. No soil samples were submitted for laboratory analysis.
Grab ground water samples were collected from probe borings B-1, B-2, B-5 and B-6 using a
temporary PVC screen. No ground water samples were submitted for laboratory analysis.
An intense solvent-like odor was noted in soil samples collected from probe boring B-2 at depths
between 5 feet bsg and 15 feet bsg. Organic vapor was detected in soil samples from B-2 using a
photo-ionization detector (PID) at concentrations as high as 782 parts per million (ppm). A
solvent-like odor was also noted in the grab ground water sample collected from probe boring B-2.
Solvent and petroleum hydrocarbon odor were not observed or detected using a PID in any of the
soil and ground water samples collected from probe borings B-1 and B-3 through B-6.
4005 North Wilson Way, Stockton, California 95205
Telephone(209)467-1006 FAX(209)467-1118
