Thornton Road, Lodi, California
Dear Ms. McCartney:
On behalf of Herum Crabtree Brown (HCB), The Source Group, Inc. (SGI) presents this workplan for
well installation at the Lima Ranch property located at 13436 North Thornton Road in Lodi, California
(the Site).
The Site, an operational dairy farm, is located near the intersection of US Interstate 5 and State
Highway 12 at 13436 N. Thornton Road. The Site is also located approximately four miles west of the
City of Lodi and approximately six miles north-east of the San Joaquin River. Land adjacent to and
surrounding the Site is used for agricultural purposes including livestock and feed production. The City
of Lodi operates the White Slough waste water treatment facility located approximately 1,000 feet
southwest of the Site which processes waste water generated by the City of Lodi.
The Site has operated as a dairy farm at its current location since as early as 1938. The Site currently
maintains a herd of approximately 1,600 mature cows for dairy production.
The scope of work presented below includes the installation of three groundwater monitoring wells.
After installation, these wells will be gauged for groundwater levels to accurately determine the flow
direction and gradient of groundwater beneath the Site. The data collected will be used to support
ongoing litigation.
SCOPE OF WORK
Prefield Activities-Well installation
A permit application to install three groundwater monitoring wells and appropriate fees are included with
this Scope of Work.
Prior to drilling, a Site visit will be performed to mark the locations of the proposed borings at the Site.
Following the Site visit, Underground Services Alert (USA) will be notified of drilling at the marked
locations. We anticipate that USA and their affiliated companies will mark the offsite locations of
underground utilities in the vicinity of the proposed monitoring wells.
