The results of the investigation indicated the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH)at concentrations of 11.0 and 77.0 parts per million(ppm)in two soil samples collected from
a depth of 11 feet below the ground surface near the existing underground storage tanks. A soil
sample collected near the proposed Iocation of the underground storage tanks had a concentration
l of TPH at 140.0 ppm.
,i Purtfos
This pretank closure site assessment was undertaken in order to.
j e Determine whether petroleum hydrocarbons are present in the soils at the bottom of the
- existing tank excavation.
Determine whether the soils at the proposed location of the new underground storage tanks
are free of petroleum hydrocarbons.
Evaluate the need for additional assessment.
Develop a soil management plan for the proposed tank closure.
F s Develop a dewatering plan for the installation of the new tanks.
1.2 Serene of Work
To achieve the objectives-of the site assessment,-the following activitieswere.con acted:-
Drilled
s :_Drilled four soil borings near the location of the existing underground storage tanks.
Collected soil samples at 5-foot intervals to a depth of either 15 or 20 feet below grade
—~ (see Figure 2 for locations).
