(Delta).
Approximately 400 cubic yards of soil containing petroleum hydrocarbons have been excavated at the
subject site and transported to disposal facilities. The soil has been removed from the former and new
product storage tank locations and from the former pump island locations. Soil containing petroleum
constituents beneath the site to a depth of anproximately 9 feet, has been removed. However, petroleum
constituents have been identified in soil at the water table, approximately 10 feet below the surface.
Concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)in 12 soil samples ranged from 0.09 to 140.0
parts per million.
Eight of the 12 samples collected at the water table contained TPH as gasoline and 4 contained'FPH
as Stoddard solvent or light petroleum distillate. The Stoddard solvent concentrations may be the result
of an upgradient activity.
Concentrations of petroleum constituents in ground water samples collected during two sampling events
were below laboratory analytical method detection limits. We propose to monitor ground water for
petroleum constituents during November 1990 and February, May, and August 1991. If petroleum
constituents are not detected in ground water, monitoring should be discontinued and the site closed.
Practical Solutions to Environmental Concerns
