WZI Inc.
21030 North Davis Road
Lodi, California 95242
(209) 369-9421
Ms. Linda Tourquet
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Re: Proposed Site Assessment Geoprobe Soil Gas Sampling at
3 properties in Lodi, California
Dear Ms. Tourquet:
WZI Inc. has been requested to assist several property owners in evaluating subsurface
conditions beneath their properties. These properties are owned by the following businesses in
Lodi:
1. Lustre-Cal Nameplate- 110 East Turner Road
2. Ackel Properties- 110 East Turner Road
3. Guild Cleaners- 17 South Church Street
Each of these properties have been and currently are involved in ongoing discussions and
investigations with the California Environmental Protection Agency- Department of Toxic
Substances Control (DTSC) and California Regional Water Quality Control Board- Central
Valley Region staffs regarding potential past site history of volatile organic compounds (VOC's)
on each of the properties. As part of the ongoing effort to obtain a settlement between the
regulatory agencies and the above mentioned Responsible Parties (RP), a limited element of
self-directed site assessment work is being undertaken by each of the RP's. This work is to
assist the RP's in deciding how to approach making commitments to the regulatory agencies for
a final settlement. This work will not be conducted under an approved workplan from either
DTSC or CRWQCB-CVR staff. It is anticipated that the results of this work will be provided to
the regulatory agencies on an immediate basis.
Soil gas data is planned to be collected using a Geoprobe instrument that will be provided by
Einerson,Fowler, and Watson, Consulting Hydrogeologists. Soil samples and soil gas samples
will be collected at the three sites using the maps attached to this proposed workplan letter.
The holes will be advanced to the first groundwater encountered. Soil samples and soil gas
samples will be collected and analyzed by an onsite mobile laboratory.
