During 1996, a multi-depth drive-point soil gas survey was conducted for LNC beneath its
property and adjacent properties (WZI, 1996). A total of 25 multi-depth drive-point soil gas
locations were sampled and 63 soil gas samples were collected. The results of this soil gas survey
indicated the presence of 1,1,1-TCA, 1,1-DCE, 1,1-DCA, PCE, and TCE in soil gas beneath
the LNC site and immediate surrounding property at depths ranging from about 10 to 40 feet bgs.
The highest concentrations of VOCs in soil gas were detected south of the Lustre-Cal building
(Area A), in the northwest parking lot(Area D), and the former concrete bunker area(Figure 7).
During 2000, another area-wide multi-depth drive-point soil gas survey was conducted by the
City of Lodi (Henshaw, 2001). A total of 480 soil gas samples were collected, including
approximately 70 soil gas samples in the northern portion of the City of Lodi and 9 in the vicinity
of the LNC site (Figure 5). Soil gas samples were collected at depths of 10, 20, 30, and 40 feet
bgs at multi-sample locations, or at approximately 35 feet bgs at single sample locations. No
samples were collected on the LNC site during this investigation.
The results of the multi-depth drive-point soil gas survey conducted in 2000 reported that PCE
was detected at a depth of about 10 feet bgs in one isolated soil gas sample collected south of the
LNC site (Figure 5).
4.4 Sewer Effluent Sampling
The RWQCB, DTSC, and City of Lodi conducted ambient and flush sampling of various sewer
lines throughout the City between 1989 and 1995 to assess potential sources of VOCs to the city-
operated sewer system. In total, approximately 116 sanitary and industrial sewer samples were
collected throughout the City, of which approximately 14 were located in the northern portion of
the city of Lodi and six were located on or in the vicinity of the LNC site (URS, 1994;NERI,
1996).
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 18
