along with VOC degredation occurring at shallow depth that at least some of the shallow VOCs
may have migrated to greater depth in the subsurface over time.
A decrease in VOC concentration of one to two orders of magnitude between the WZI 1996 and
Geomatrix 2006 soil gas surveys is postulated by Geomatrix (2006)to also be potentially present
in the deeper soil zone but is unconfirmed by actual data. As mentioned above, degradation of
VOC concentrations at deeper zones may in fact have occurred or, alternatively, the VOCs may
have moved vertically further downward into the soil column with time.
Current groundwater conditions at the LNC site are unknown. VOCs had clearly impacted some
of the LNC site groundwater during the 1996 WZI investigation. There is high probability that
VOCs still impact the underlying groundwater at the LNC site.
M ain\D:AEnvironmentaI\LN CV\10152007.wpd 29
