6.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK FOR CONTINUED INVESTIGATION
6.1 Task 1 Permitting for Soil Borings
Prior to commencing work, Consultant will obtain a drilling permit for the soil borings and
monitoring well from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Department(PHSEHD).
6.2 Task 2 Subsurface Investigation
6.2.1 Geophysical Clearance of Drill Sites
Each of the proposed soil borings or monitoring well sites will be cleared by geophysical means
(i.e., magnetometer or ground conductivity). An underground service alert(USA)notification
will be made to include all appropriate markings required. As an additional source of protection,
each of the soil borings will have a hand auger clear the exact soil boring or monitoring well
location to a minimum depth of 5 feet below ground surface.
6.2.2 Soil Boring Drilling and Soil Gas Sampling Procedures
Soil Boring Drilling
Consultant proposes to advance a series of 6 to 8 shallow(<25 feet bgs) soil borings and four
deep (-60 feet bgs) soil borings at the site (Figure 11). The soil borings will be drilled by a
licensed C-57 water well driller with a hazardous materials endorsement. The drill rig will be a
Mobile Drill B-53 or equivalent with continuous 10" outside diameter hollow stem augers.
During drilling undisturbed soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals into stainless steel
or brass sample sleeves in accordance with ASTM Method D-1452-80 for soil investigations.
All drilling equipment will be cleaned prior to drilling each soil boring.
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 33
