Section 12 <br /> ONSITE Environmental Laboratories, Inc Revision 0 <br /> ' Quality Assurance Plan February 15, 1996 <br /> Page 1 of 6 <br /> 12.0 DATA EVALUATION AND DATA REDUCTION <br /> ' After data have been collected electronically and computer printouts are generated, analysts <br /> evaluate the data, round for the sigruficant figures and perform any calculations required If <br /> manual calculations are done, they are written in a clear and concise manner with ball-point <br /> pens on related computer generated printouts or in appropriate logs No white-out is allowed, <br /> and all erroneous results are crossed out with a single line and initialled and dated <br /> Calculations specific for each method are included in SOPS <br /> ' ONSITE data is reported with two significant figures QC results used for statistical evaluation <br /> are reported with three significant figures <br /> ' Results for soil are reported on a wet weight basis unless dry weight basis is stipulated by <br /> contract requirements <br /> ' Preliminary analytical results are approved by the Mobile Lab Manager and released to clients <br /> in the field The data is, however, subject to change upon final approval by the Laboratory <br /> Director <br /> Raw data is transported to the office by ONSITE staff, courier or computer via modem The <br /> ' Laboratory Director reviews the data, validates the quality control parameters and generates <br /> the final report The Laboratory Director is responsible for the statistical evaluation of QC <br /> data, the generation of control limits and QC charts The QC limits are calculated and updated <br /> on an annual basis when the method SOP is reviewed and updated <br /> Data validation is the total process within an analytical laboratory that assures that the reported <br /> results correctly represent the analyses performed and includes data processing, data review, <br /> ' and proofing of the ficial report to the client There are two basic verification activities <br /> 12 1 Data Verification <br /> 12 1 1 Data Processing <br /> The first step in verification is data processing, which is performed by the <br /> analyst who obtained the data In general, data will be processed by an analyst <br /> in one of the following ways <br /> > Manual computation of results directly on the raw data, on method <br /> specific worksheets attached to the raw data, or in laboratory <br /> ' notebooks <br /> > Manual input of raw data for computer processing <br /> Word 6 0 loeisec 12 doc <br />
