1 <br /> V�FY INC <br /> ' <br /> 34 PRT Connection (Sampling System Connection) <br /> Note If the PRT system is not used, attach the gas sampling adapter cap (threaded <br /> ' cap with barbed hose fitting) to the top of the probe rods after development of <br /> the sampling interval <br /> 1 Insert the PRT adapter attached to the sampling tubing down the inside diameter <br /> ' of the probe rods <br /> 2 Feed the tubing down the rod bore until it hits bottom on the PRT point holder <br /> Allow a sufficient amount of tubing to extend out the rod to attach to the vacuum <br /> ' sampling set-up (typically 3 to 5 feet) <br /> ' 3 Grasp the tubing and rotate it counter-clockwise while applying downward <br /> pressure to engage the PRT adapter threads with the point holder <br /> ' 4 Gently pull up on the tubing to test the engagement of the threads <br /> 5 Connect the PRT tubing (or tubing from the gas sampling cap) to a clean piece <br /> of silicone adapter tubing, secured with a tubing tie, and sealed with an <br /> ' adjustable tubing clamp <br /> ' 35 Vapor Purging and Sampling <br /> ' 1 Use a controlled flow and vacuum to purge and collect a vapor sample Attach the <br /> silicone tubing adapter at the sampling point to the tubing attached to the vacuum <br /> ' pump Release the tubing clamp and engage the vacuum pump Adjust the <br /> vacuum and flow using the valve and flow meter on the pump Purge at a flow rate <br /> r <br /> 0 <br /> APPENDIX III <br /> ' 12270020 025 7 <br />
