Section 4 <br /> ONSITE Environmental Laboratories Inc Revision 0 <br /> Quality Assurance Plan February 15, 1995 <br /> ' Pace I of 2 <br /> 4.0 MATERIAL PROCUREMENT AND CONTROL <br /> ' ONSITE uses chenucals and standards from suppliers who are able to provide documents that <br /> certify technical specifications and quality requirements ONSITE verifies standards with the <br /> use of an alternate, second source standard at the time of calibration and verifies the purity of <br /> reagents with the use of a reagent blank at the time of analysts <br /> 41 The Laboratory Director has oversight for inventory control and ordering of supplies <br /> for the ONSITE laboratory During the process of ordering, receiving and storing <br /> reagents and cheirucals, the Laboratory Director will <br /> 4 1 1 Specify in purchase orders or requisitions suitable grades of materials <br /> appropriate for the method or as described in the method's SOP <br /> ' 4 1 2 Verify upon receipt that materials meet requirements and that, as applicable, <br /> purity of analysis certificates are provided and maintained <br /> 4 1 3 Identify and store materials, include labeling for reagent, solvents and <br /> standards <br /> 4 1 4 Verify that material storage is properly maintained <br /> ' 4 1 5 Remove materials from use when shelf life has expired <br /> 4.2 Reagents and Supplies <br /> 42 1 The laboratory uses ASTM Type I water either by purchasing commercially <br /> prepared distilled water or using water filtered through a Millipore Nanopure <br /> ' system that utilizes mixed bed ionic exchange resins and a carbon polisher that <br /> removes organic constituents Water quality is venfied by the use of method <br /> blanks with each test <br /> ' 4 2 2 Each reagent or chenucaI received is marked with the date received, date opened, <br /> the shelf-life expiration date, and the initials of the person dating the bottle If the <br /> shelf-life expiration date is exceeded, all chemicals and reagents, includmg <br /> standard solutions and other nine-sensitive matenals, are properly and safely <br /> discarded If not noted in the specific method SOP or listed b4 the manufacturer, <br /> the expiration date is set as follo,6rs <br /> T«o vears from operang for seruvolatile organics <br /> One year from opening for volatile organics <br /> Word 6 0 loelseO doc <br />
