GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
2291 W. March Lane, Suite 127D
Stockton, California 95207
Telephone: (209) 952-3481
Facsimile: (209) 952-9892
April 24, 1996
Mr. LaDon Strapp
934 Chisholm Trail
Galt, CA 95632
Subject: Limited Site Assessment, Don's Dandy Mart, 20 W. Turner Road, Lodi, CA
Dear Mr. Strapp:
This letter report is submitted to summarize field procedures and analytical data associated with
a limited site assessment conducted by Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) at 20 W.
Turner Road in Lodi, California. The site is operated as Don's Dandy Mart, a Mini-market/gas
station. It is our understanding that three 10,000 gallon underground fuel storage tanks are
located at the site. One tank stores diesel #2 and two tanks store unleaded gasoline.
The limited site assessment consisted of using the direct push method to collect soil samples near
the fill end of each tank and near the pump island. The pushed soil borings were advanced by
Spectrum Exploration (C57-512268) of Stockton, California, on April 12, 1996. The locations
of the pushed soil borings are shown on the attached site sketch. Two soil samples were
collected from each boring for laboratory analysis. Analyzed samples include the samples
collected from near the fill end of the tanks at approximately 15 and 25 feet below ground
surface (bgs) and the samples collected at approximately 8 and 15 feet bgs in the boring near
the pump island. All equipment used for advancing soil borings and collecting soil samples was
precleaned by steamcleaning prior to use.
Soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) and benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by Argon Mobile Labs (DHS #1873) of Ceres,
California. In addition the soil samples collected near the fill end of the diesel tank and near
the dispenser island were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD). Four
samples, the shallowest from each boring, were analyzed for total lead.
After sample collection, each boring was grouted to the surface with neat cement. No drill
cuttings were generated due to the direct push method of advancing the borings. Field notes are
included in Attachment A.
