GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
2291 W. March Lane, Suite 127D
Stockton, California 95207
Telephone: (209) 952-3481
Facsimile: (209) 952-9892
April 10, 1996
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Limited Site Assessment, Don's Dandy Mart, 20 W. Turner Road, Lodi, CA
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. has been retained by Mr. LaDon Strapp to perform a limited site
assessment at 20 W. Turner Road in Lodi, California. The site is operated as a Mini-market/gas
station. It is our understanding that three 10,000 gallon underground fuel storage tanks are
located at the site. One tank stores diesel #2 and two tanks store unleaded gasoline. Mr. Strapp
has indicated that the tanks have passed all tightness tests since he began operating the facility
several years ago.
The limited site assessment will consist of using the direct push method to collect soil samples
near the fill end of each tank and near the pump island. The pushed soil borings will be
advanced by Spectrum Exploration (C57-512268) of Stockton, California. The locations of the
pushed soil borings are shown on the attached permit application. Soil samples will be collected
at depths of approximately 15 and 25 feet from each boring for laboratory analysis. Soil
samples collected from near the fill end of the diesel tank will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by
Argon Mobile Labs (DHS #1873) of Ceres, California. The samples collected near the fill ends
of the two unleaded tanks will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG)
and BTEX. The soil samples collected from near the pump island will be analyzed for TPHG,
TPHD, and BTEX. Samples will be transported in an iced cooler under chain of custody
procedures.
After sample collection, each boring will be grouted to the surface with neat cement. No drill
cuttings are expected due to the sampling method.
