1 <br /> GEOMATFlIX <br /> Mr Jay Jahangiri <br />' Port of Stockton <br /> February 5, 2002 <br /> Page 3 <br /> FIELD AND LABORATORY RESULTS <br />' The soils encountered during the field investigation consisted of greenish gray to dark <br /> greenish gray clay, silt, and sand Soil in the upper 20 to 30 feet bgs in each boring was <br /> predominantly clay and silt, while sand was more prominent from 20 to 40 feet bgs The soil <br />' samples collected from borings 1334 and B3-7, located northeast and northwest of UST Site <br /> No 3, respectively, did not have a petroleum odor or PID readings that would suggest organic <br />' vapors The soil samples collected from borings B3-5 and B3-6, located east-southeast and <br /> southwest of UST Site No 3, respectively, exhibited petroleum odor, staining, and elevated <br /> PID readings (Figure 2) <br />' The laboratory analytical results for soil samples are presented in Table 1 Soil samples from <br /> the 20-foot depth in borings B3-4 and B3-7 were not analyzed for PHCs because no organic <br />' vapors were detected during field screening (Figure 2) The analytical results of soil samples <br /> collected from 40 feet bgs in borings B34 and B3-7 were non-detect for BTEX and TPH-g <br /> Analytical results of soil samples collected from the shallow interval in borings B3-5 and 133-6 <br />' indicated detectable, but low concentrations of PHCs Analytical results of the soil sample <br /> collected from 20 feet bgs in boring 133-5 indicated concentrations of benzene at 0 11 milli- <br /> grams per kilogram (mg/kg, or parts per million), toluene at 0 029 mg/kg, ethylbenzene at <br /> 0 03 mg/kg, total xylenes at 0 059 mg/kg, and TPH-g at 6 4 mg/kg The soil sample collected <br /> from 15 feet bgs in boring B3-6 was non-detect for benzene and had concentrations of toluene <br /> at 0 02 mg/kg, ethylbenzene at 0 022 mg/kg, total xylenes at 0 038 mg/kg, and TPH-g at <br /> 4 1 mg/kg The analytical results of soil samples collected from 40 feet bgs in borings 133-5 <br /> and 133-6 were non-detect for BTEX and TPH-g <br /> IThe laboratory analytical results for grab groundwater samples are presented in Table 2 <br /> Groundwater samples from all four borings were analyzed for PHCs The analytical results of <br /> I the groundwater samples collected from borings B3-4 and 133-7 were non-detect for BTEX <br /> and TPH-g (Figure 2) <br /> The analytical results of the groundwater sample collected from boring B3-5 at 20 feet bgs <br /> indicated concentrations of benzene at 19,000 micrograms per liter (µg/f, or parts per billion), <br /> toluene at 21,000 gg/f, ethylbenzene at 12,000 pg/f., total xylenes at 39,000 pg/f, and TPH-g <br /> at 610,000 gg/C The groundwater sample from boring B3-5 at 40 feet bgs had concentrations <br /> of benzene at 10 µg/l;, toluene at 2 1 leg/f., ethylbenzene at 2 6 gg/f, total xylenes at 8 4 pg/e, <br /> and TPH-g at 220 µg/f <br /> IThe analytical results of the groundwater sample collected from boring B3-6 at 21 feet bgs <br /> • indicated concentrations of benzene at 2,200 gg/f, toluene at 26 µg/f, ethylbenzene at 62 Fg/f, <br /> 1\PROJEC n6437 000\6437-Site3 UtVert Results doc <br />
