GEOMATRIX
Based on the groundwater elevation data, the calculated groundwater flow direction for
' October 2003 is south to southwest at a gradient of 0 007 to 0 009 (Table 2 and Figure 3)
Groundwater flow direction and gradient for fourth quarter 2003 is consistent with previously
calculated groundwater flow directions and gradients on the site
3.2 LABORATORY RESULTS
The following provides an evaluation of the quality assurance/quality control results for the
laboratory analyses and presents analytical results Copies of analytical reports for the
groundwater samples collected for the fourth quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring event are
included in Appendix B
' 3.2.1 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Evaluation
Groundwater samples for wells MW3-1, MW3-2, MW3-4, MW3-5, and MW3-6 were received
by the laboratory on October 16, 2003 Holding times for the requested analyses were met No
analyzed constituents were detected in the laboratory method blanks or in the trip blank
' Recoveries of surrogate spikes were within laboratory quality control limits
3.2.2 Analytical Results
Analytical results for quarterly monitoring parameters are presented in Table 3 During fourth
quarter 2003, groundwater samples from four of the five sampled wells had detectable
concentrations of TPHg or BTEX The groundwater sample from well MW3-5 contained no
detected TPHg or BTEX The concentrations of TPHg and BTEX in groundwater samples from
' wells MW3-1 and MW3-2 are less than the concentrations reported during the third quarter 2003
monitoring event, but otherwise are consistent with historical concentrations
' This was the fourth sampling event for monitoring wells MW3-4, MW3-5, and MW3-6 During
' first and second quarters 2003 (Geomatrix, 2003b), groundwater sampled from monitoring wells
MW3-4 and MW3-5 contained no detected TPHg or BTEX The third quarter 2003 results
indicate relatively low concentrations of TPHg, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes present in the
' groundwater sample from well MW3-4 Concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes in
the groundwater sample from well MW3-5 were less than those in well MW3-4 (Table 3) The
' fourth quarter 2003 concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes in well MW3-4 were
less than third quarter concentrations, and TPHg was not detected During the fourth quarter
' 2003, TPHg and BTEX were not detected in the groundwater sample from well MW3-5 The
. concentrations of TPHg and BTEX compounds detected in the well MW3-6 groundwater sample
Iare less than previously detected concentrations
I TR07ECM6000s16437 00016437 15 doc 3
