1
GEOMATRIX
3.0 MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater elevation data and samples were collected from six site wells during first quarter
2003 Field water quality parameters are included on the well sampling and development
' records (Appendix A) Groundwater elevation data, groundwater flow direction and gradient,
and analytical data are presented in Tables 1, 2, and 3, respectively Laboratory analytical
' reports and chain-of-custody records are included in Appendix B
' 3.1 GROUNDWATER ELEVATION,FLOW DIRECTION,AND GRADIENTS
Depth to groundwater was collected before purging groundwater on February 20, 2003 Floating
product was not observed in any of the site wells Historical and current groundwater elevation
' data are presented in Table 1 Review of groundwater elevation data suggested that the
groundwater measurement on February 20, 2003, in MW3-1 was anomalous Depth-to-
groundwater data was collected again in all of the site wells on March 24, 2003 Both sets of
data are included in Table 1 and were used to prepare two site groundwater contour maps
' (Figures 3 and 4) The groundwater elevations measured on March 24 confirmed that the
February 20 data in MW3-1 were anomalous, therefore, the February 20 measurement for
MW3-1 was not used to construct potentiometnc contours on Figure 3 Groundwater levels have
risen about 2 to 3 feet in monitoring wells MW3-1, MW3-2, and MW3-3 since fourth quarter
2002 This is the first set of groundwater level data for monitoring wells MW3-4, MW3-5, and
MW3-b
' Based on the groundwater elevation data, the calculated groundwater flow direction for February
and March is south to southwest at a gradient of 0 005 and 0 004,respectively (Table 2 and
' Figures 3 and 4)
3.2 LABORATORY RESULTS
' The following summarizes the quality assurance/quality control of the laboratory analysis and
presents results of the chemical analysis A copy of the analytical report for the groundwater
' samples collected for the first quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring event are included in
Appendix B
' 3.2.1 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Evaluation
' APPL reported that six groundwater samples and one travel blank were received on February 21,
2003, in good condition Holding times for the requested analysis were met Results of the
travel blank analysis include detections of ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes APPL reported
I 1PROJEM6000s16437 00016437.06 doo 3
