I <br /> eP� <br /> GEMAAMTRIX <br /> RESULTS OF ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT AND <br /> REMEDIATION EVALUATION OF PETROLEUM <br /> HYDROCARBONS IN GROUNDWATER <br />' UST Site No. 3 — Port of Stockton <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report has been prepared by Geomatnx Consultants, Inc (Geomatrix), on behalf of the <br /> Port of Stockton (Port) to respond to the June 24, 2002, letter from the San Joaquin County <br />' Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) to the Port. In that letter, <br /> the PHS/EHD indicated that they had reviewed the May 17, 2002, Results of Assessment and <br />' Recommendations for Monitoring Well Placement (Geomatnx, 2002b), prepared on behalf of <br /> the Port Based on their review, the PHS/EHD indicated that the vertical extent of petroleum <br />' impact at the site needed to be defined before;remedial alternatives or closure requests could <br /> be evaluated In response to that letter, Geomatnx proposed additional assessment for vertical <br /> delineation and for evaluating remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater at the <br /> site (Geomatnx, 2002c), which was approved by the PHS/EHD in their October 22, 2002, <br /> letter to the Port This assessment included installation of additional monitoring wells, <br /> collection of a depth-discrete groundwater sample near boring B3-5, and collection of intrinsic <br /> bioremediation indicator parameters for evaluation of groundwater remediation <br /> Site background information is summarized in Section 2 0 The completed assessment <br /> activities are described in Section 3.0 Site data are evaluated in Section 4 0 Remediation <br />' evaluation is presented in Section 5.0 Conclusions and recommendations are discussed in <br /> Section 6 0 <br /> 1 <br /> 2.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br />' The site physical setting, hydrogeologic setting, and results of previous site investigations are <br /> summarized in the following sections <br />' 2.1 PHYSICAL SETTING <br />' The site is located within the central portion of the Port in the City of Stockton, San Joaquin <br /> County, California(Figure 1) Site No. 3 is located approximately 50 feet north of Port <br /> 1 <br /> I\PROMCT Ws%4s7 00016437-M dM 1 <br />
