Section No. 1.0
Revision No. 6
Date 6/1/88
Page 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this Quality Assurance/Quality Cor rol (QA/QC) manual is to
ensure that the data generated by Canonie Environmental Services Corp.
(Canonie), for the analysis of environmental samples, are accurate & precise.
To better ensure that the data generated are acceptable for any enforcement
activities, proper documentation of sample handling and analysis is also
maintained in a precise manner and is so described in this manual. The QA/QC
Manual utilized by Cananie is based upon U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) guidance documents, EPA-Office of Solid Waste & Emergency, Response
C'
Publication SW-846, and EPA Contract Laboratory Program Criteria.
The QA program is designed to ensure the reliability in the identification and
measurement data. The QC program is designed to obtain prescribed standards
of performance in the identification and measurement data. The above areas
4 will be discussed in detail along with sampling, collection and preservation,
sample control (log-in & storage) , instrument calibration and maintenance, and
analytical methodology.
It must be understood by anyone outside of the laboratory staff who may use
this manual that specific projects may require Quality Assurance Project Pians
(QAPP) of greater detail than presented in this manual. Also, data quality
objectives cannot be well defined in this manual for any given project and
must be understood to be a function of the technical work plan for a specific
project.
CanQnielinvironnnenta!
